Can ChatGPT Write Your College Essay? (And Should It?)

Short answer: Not really.

Longer answer: ChatGPT can write you a perfectly formatted, error-free essay. What it can’t do and won’t do is positively differentiate you from the other equally-qualified applicants.

The goal of your essays and activities list is to show admissions officers what you’ve done, how you’ve done it, and why you’ve done it. In other words, they need to show how you think. No AI is going to do that as well as you. As I often say, you are the world’s leading expert on you.

Fun fact: You’re so much better at this than AI.
