What Is a Letter of Continued Interest and Should You Send One?
Short answer: Yes, if they’re your first choice.
Longer answer: A Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI) is a short, direct email to admissions telling them you’re still interested after being waitlisted or deferred. Only send one if the school is genuinely your top choice and you would attend if admitted — and say so explicitly. Include one or two meaningful updates from since you applied. Keep it to a few short paragraphs. Do not beg, do not apologize, do not list every school you’re also considering.
Fun fact: “I will attend if admitted” is the single most important sentence in the letter.
